~~~Pharaoh Ignores God's Call~~~

Key Verse:

“Thus say the LORD, the God of Israel, “Let my people go, so that they may celebrate a festival to me in the wilderness” Exodus 5:1

The Message:

After that Moses and Aaron approached Pharaoh. They said, "God, the God of Israel, says, 'Free my people so that they can hold a festival for me in the wilderness.'"

The rule that “possession is 9/10 of the law” is not of God; it is the law of man. And even if it were true in the story of Pharaoh and Egypt, God was making full demands on the remaining
1/10th.

There is a difference between a possessed and ownership. Because the Egyptians had possessed the people of God for 400 years, they thought they owned them. Firmly, God said, “let my people
go.”

Israel, though suffering for their transgression, was spoken for, Their father Abraham had made a covenant of blood with God and because they were circumcision (Genesis 17), they were the people of God. Still
God loved them. And from the beginning, their sentence to live in bondage was
only temporary (Genesis 15:13). He was sensitive to them, loved their fellowship
and desired to be near to them, even if in a less then desirable place as the
wilderness. ….” His compassions fail not. Theyare new every morning…”
(Lamentations 3:22,23).

The covenant God mad with Abraham and his descendants was everlasting (Genesis 17:7) and He had waited 400 years to make it good. “The Lord is not slack concerning his promise…but it longsuffering toward us….that
all should come to repentance.” (2 Peter 3:9). No matter how angry and hurt God
is, when His people want to worship Him or return to Him, He welcomes them, and
is not wise that any man, whether a heathen or believer, come between
them.
