Steve was having an emotional moment. Emotionalism does not mean that the person is repentant or willing to allow the LORD to change them.
Example: A woman beaten severely by her husband repeatedly will hear him say how sorry he is. He may even cry copious tears and beg forgivness. But when he becomes frustrated again, he will take his anger and frustration out on her. And the cycle starts all over.
Steve isnt' repentant, he just wants to do it his way. Somebody needs to tell him the truth....in love....but the truth nonetheless.
And the reason why people don't is because individuals like Patty and 'em are 'gods'. And that means that the people unwilling to tell them the truth are idolatrous.

This is to be expected of BET! Who said the person making the statement is saved? There are many pastor that are not saved. Anyone can have a gospel program. I don't watch BET. I'm tired of black exploitation movies. I find almost nothing of spiritual value on BET.

Let's bring some spiritual balance here:

GOD blesses those that love and serve God as well as those who do not. The mindset that claims spiritual authority and exclusivity on the blessing of God is not scriptural and is pure heresy. While we can speak and let a person know that GOD can use them to do so much more for the Kingdom and for His glory, it is with all due respect rather ridiculous to say that God will only bless those that serve and love Him. He has gifted us ALL in some compacity to serve with spiritual gifts and even some natural talent abilities (1 Corinthians 12). Like Sampson in scripture, it is about how and when we recognize our Divine purpose and what we do with that understanding of our purpose. It does not happen overnight either.

With that said, the secular artist that gives glory to God for what they have been given is correct. Where the line can be drawn is with Gospel Artist, the pastor, the Minister of Music, the elder, layman in the pew who are "mature" or "seasoned" to fulling know the difference between right and wrong, but look back at Sodom and Gomorrah with longing, when God is trying to move those who are in it out.

Matthew 5:44-46

But I say unto you, Love your enemies, bless them that curse you, do good to them that hate you, and pray for them which despitefully use you, and persecute you;

That ye may be the children of your Father which is in heaven: for he maketh his sun to rise on the evil and on the good, and sendeth rain on the just and on the unjust.

Ephesians 4:4-8

"There is one body, and one Spirit, even as ye are called in one hope of your calling; One Lord, one faith, one baptism,
One God and Father of all, who is above all, and through all, and in you all. But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore he saith, When he ascended up on high, he led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto men."


James 1:16-20

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and cometh down from the Father of lights, with whom is no variableness, neither shadow of turning. Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God."

Christians receive spiritual gifts (different from natural talents but can be facilitated by natural talents)
