Should Christians have to pay tithes?

Amazing, Calling herself a Levitcal Priest is heresy. She is not a Jew and neither is she from the tribe of Levi. According the scriptures she much produce records of geneolgical heriterage back to the Levites. What a shame that so many people are fooled by this madness.

I find that people who argue about this and other erroneous pettiness usually have some bitterness against or disappointment with the assembly or the pastor or with GOD, and that the argument is just a cover for that disappointment.
Examine your hearts and get to the real issues of the heart.

Well, Mrs. Thomas

I was hoping for some support to prove either tithing is right or tithing is wrong. The reason why it keeps coming up is because it hasn't been scripturally proven to be a command for the Church to do as in scripture it was for the LEvitical priesthood, and it was the crop of the land not money. Although, you made a point within your post it did not prove or disprove tithing is a command given to the Church as a matter a fact I was actually say it leans towards proving it isn't simply because a "pastor" is not Jesus Christ and a person calling upon "pastor" at all times of the day and night comes across as a place of idolatry that an elder was never supposed to be in the first place. We are all priests within the Body of Christ and our head is Christ, any money given should be giving cheerfully but not to a Church organization specifically, but where it is needed to help members within the Body. This is not tithe, this is just simple giving.

I would love to hear your explanation of scripture to support tithing. That's all I'm asking for and I'm sure all this tithing doctrinal issue can be laid to rest by the Word of God so I'll wait for you or someone to come and lay out the scriptures in regards and also refute any arguments that are against tithing, not giving but tithing.

I agree with you. Everytime I discuss this subject with pro-tithers, it ends up being circular arguments but never any conclusive proof to prove tithing is commanded, suggested, mentioned, prophesied, ordered, mandated in the New Testament. By the way, There's a good book to read on tithing called, "Why Christians Should Not Tithe." I have and it one of the best book out there besides Dr. Kelly's book, "Should the Church Teach Tithing.

Clarity comes with studying to show thyself approved. Rightly dividing the word of truth. The scripture you are speaking of when you read it from chapter 1 to the end is talking to Jews inside Isreal not gentiles or New Covenant Believers. NT believers are to give not tithe. If you examine Numbers chapter 18, God defined the tithe as food, crops to be given by the 11 tribes in Isreal to the Levites. God has never changed what the contents of the tithe was. If you look, mathew 23:23, the tithe is still food items. Since Gentiles are not Levites, the new testemant tell us to give, not tithe. Why are you using an OT scripture that is not talking to you. That scripture in Malachi is being misinterpreted by many to extort money from people who do not study the word, and would rather retain the traditions of men instead of the true word of God. Again, there is not NT command for christians to tithe, because the tithe in Isreal was alway paid by farmers inside Isreal. Those who did not farm gave money offerings only. Remember the biblical tithe is food. Don't forget the word "Food' in Malichi.

Mr. Chase, I've read your comments and even seen your page and I know this is going no where, because you are allowing the enemy to beguile you.

I know my scripture and it's clear that you do not want to help the kingdom of God by giving the very same money that you make on your job or business. I don't believe you are a farmer Mr. Chase, so stop with the food stuff, we are in a different time.

Since you want to stick to tithing and offering of not being scriptural without trying the spirit thats telling you to tell the Christian community that are saved by the grace of God, your Father, to stop giving to his church, woe to you sir.

I also see in your writings that you are stating that "African Americans" are gentiles. You need to go back and read, because you are wrong again. We are from the seed of Shem. You can read all my comments, because I've said alot about that, plus when my book comes out, I'll give you one for free.

Pray Mr. Chase exceedingly, you are not as smart as you think.

Well put Simplysaved. The devil is always trying to stop the Kingdom from propospering and I'm sure those who oppose tithing have not tried the spirits that telling them this.

Hereby know ye the Spirit of God: Every spirit that confesseth that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is of God: and every spirit that confesseth not that Jesus Christ is come in the flesh is not of God: and this is that spirit of antichrist, whereof ye have heard that it should come; and even now already is it in the word. 1st John 4:2-3

People get saved and start breaking down the word and think that know the word. Then they think they find something that they feel is not scripture, when in fact it is scripture. The Lord didn't allow these many scriptures of tithing and offering for Christians to look, nod and not act upon it.

Jesus told that rich man (Luke 18-22) to sell all that he has and distribute them to the poor. Still in 2010, people want to keep the money that God allowed them to attain. God gave them the very air that they didn't pay for and so much more. It sounds like I've been reading alot of selfishness due to this question.

If I were them I would be very careful about proclaiming that tithes and offering is not scriptural or not a fulfillment of righteousness. You reap what you sow.

You have not applied scripture in your argument yet Dr/Mr Chase has yet the enemy is beguiling him? How so? We live in a different time but when did tithe become money and stop being crops? Where in the Bible? Who receive this tithe mentioned in scripture? Why did they receive this tithe? How often does scripture state it was to be given? How is applying scripture being beguiled? Are you applying any scripture to support this claim of yours? Where is it? How can we learn just taking your opinion? Where's proof?

When there is an arguement about scripture among Christians, children of God we seem to go to others for answers.

As an adult you are supposed to be meat already. But if you just gave your life to God, you are milk.

In that note. All the answers come from God and his plentiful holy bible where you'll learn from Much Reading.

I gave you Scripture and you seem to have ignored it. :-) Now you are demanding someone else give you Scripture, when you've been given it. You've also been given the example set by the LORD HIMSELF, because HE fulfilled all the law. I am sure that as a carpenter, HIS contribution didn't consist of trees....
