is the 10 commandments something we should establish in our lives?

BAPTISM according to scripture is the only commemoration of Christ's resurrection.

Romans 6:3-6 (KJV)

"Know ye not, that so many of us as were baptized into Jesus Christ were baptized into his death?

Therefore we are buried with him by baptism into death: that like as Christ was raised up from the dead by the glory of the Father, even so we also should walk in newness of life.

For if we have been planted together in the likeness of his death, we shall be also in the likeness of his resurrection:

Knowing this, that our old man is crucified with him, that the body of sin might be destroyed, that henceforth we should not serve sin."

God's law...the 10 commandments are always in effect, it is how we know and understand sin and it is also how we know and understand love and recognize that love is both a noun (God) and a verb (action). It is a package deal and not one or the other:

Luke 4:14-16 (KJV)

And Jesus returned in the power of the Spirit into Galilee: and there went out a fame of him through all the region round about.

And he taught in their synagogues, being glorified of all.

And he came to Nazareth, where he had been brought up: and, as his custom was, he went into the synagogue on the sabbath day, and stood up for to read.

John 14:15 (KJV)

"If ye love me, keep my commandments."

John 14:19-21 (KJV)

"Yet a little while, and the world seeth me no more; but ye see me: because I live, ye shall live also.

At that day ye shall know that I am in my Father, and ye in me, and I in you.

He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him."

John 15:9-11 (KJV)

"As the Father hath loved me, so have I loved you: continue ye in my love.

If ye keep my commandments, ye shall abide in my love; even as I have kept my Father's commandments, and abide in his love.

These things have I spoken unto you, that my joy might remain in you, and that your joy might be full."

1 John 5:2-4 (KJV)

"By this we know that we love the children of God, when we love God, and keep his commandments.

For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous.

For whatsoever is born of God overcometh the world: and this is the victory that overcometh the world, even our faith."

2 John 1:4-6 (KJV)

"I rejoiced greatly that I found of thy children walking in truth, as we have received a commandment from the Father.

And now I beseech thee, lady, not as though I wrote a new commandment unto thee, but that which we had from the beginning, that we love one another.

And this is love, that we walk after his commandments. This is the commandment, That, as ye have heard from the beginning, ye should walk in it."

James 2:8-12 (KJV)

"If ye fulfil the royal law according to the scripture, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself, ye do well:

But if ye have respect to persons, ye commit sin, and are convinced of the law as transgressors.

For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.

For he that said, Do not commit adultery, said also, Do not kill. Now if thou commit no adultery, yet if thou kill, thou art become a transgressor of the law.

So speak ye, and so do, as they that shall be judged by the law of liberty. "

Hosea 4:5-7 (KJV)

"My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge: because thou hast rejected knowledge, I will also reject thee, that thou shalt be no priest to me: seeing thou hast forgotten the law of thy God, I will also forget thy children.

As they were increased, so they sinned against me: therefore will I change their glory into shame.

Matthew 5:16-18 (KJV)

"Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works, and glorify your Father which is in heaven.

Think not that I am come to destroy the law, or the prophets: I am not come to destroy, but to fulfil.

For verily I say unto you, Till heaven and earth pass, one jot or one tittle shall in no wise pass from the law, till all be fulfilled."

Hebrews 4:1-12 (KJV)

"Let us therefore fear, lest, a promise being left us of entering into his rest, any of you should seem to come short of it.

For unto us was the gospel preached, as well as unto them: but the word preached did not profit them, not being mixed with faith in them that heard it.

For we which have believed do enter into rest, as he said, As I have sworn in my wrath, if they shall enter into my rest: although the works were finished from the foundation of the world.

For he spake in a certain place of the seventh day on this wise, And God did rest the seventh day from all his works.

And in this place again, If they shall enter into my rest.

Seeing therefore it remaineth that some must enter therein, and they to whom it was first preached entered not in because of unbelief:

Again, he limiteth a certain day, saying in David, To day, after so long a time; as it is said, To day if ye will hear his voice, harden not your hearts.

For if Jesus had given them rest, then would he not afterward have spoken of another day.

There remaineth therefore a rest to the people of God.

For he that is entered into his rest, he also hath ceased from his own works, as God did from his.

Let us labour therefore to enter into that rest, lest any man fall after the same example of unbelief.

For the word of God is quick, and powerful, and sharper than any twoedged sword, piercing even to the dividing asunder of soul and spirit, and of the joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. "

Romans 3:19-31 (KJV)

"Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God.

Therefore by the deeds of the law there shall no flesh be justified in his sight: for by the law is the knowledge of sin.

But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets;

Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference:

For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;

Being justified freely by his grace through the redemption that is in Christ Jesus:

Whom God hath set forth to be a propitiation through faith in his blood, to declare his righteousness for the remission of sins that are past, through the forbearance of God;

To declare, I say, at this time his righteousness: that he might be just, and the justifier of him which believeth in Jesus.

Where is boasting then? It is excluded. By what law? of works? Nay: but by the law of faith.

Therefore we conclude that a man is justified by faith without the deeds of the law.

Is he the God of the Jews only? is he not also of the Gentiles? Yes, of the Gentiles also:

Seeing it is one God, which shall justify the circumcision by faith, and uncircumcision through faith.

Do we then make void the law through faith? God forbid: yea, we establish the law."

Jesus did not change ANYTHING...He is our ultimate example and the only one that as Christians we are to follow...not the commandents or traditions of men.

Be Blessed!

Where are you going with the scriptures you posted? Are you saying we are to go back to sacraficing and ALL of the practices of the Law or are we going to walk in what Christ showed us? The Law was not giving to us to justify us but the Law condemned us. We are free and justified ONLY in Christ, not the Law which is why scripture says, we follow the law by loving one another. It fulfills the law because when we do that we do not do any of the things that break the law. Romans 13: 8-10

If you read it, it supports from scripture that you are in err, my brother. God never did away with the 10 commandments. They are love when perfectly manifested, but it in no wise means that a person can worship any thing above God, or covet, or commit adultery or any of them.

You are also aware that there was the sacrificial laws (which are what was done away with at the cross, as Jesus is the Lamb). Those are the only commandments nailed to the cross.

That is how we know what sin is...but that's what the Bible says.

Jesus said it is how we show love by keeping them...and he kept them, including the Sabbath.

Read the Word of God and let it speak for itself...in context. I would also encourage you read the thread from start to finish, you may find it enlightening.

Blessings!

Where in my response did I say anything about the 10 commandments been done away with? I said the Law was fulfilled by Christ and scriptures says what fulfilling the Law for us is. How am I in err when I used scripture not to support but to reprove. It is in context. Read it again and if you still feel that way show me so I can correct my err.

I'll ask you a question. Did JESUS keep the ten commandments? The WORD sayd HE kept all the law. So if you are following HIM, should you keep all the Law?
P. S.: JESUS didn't violate the Law because of Love....:-)
