Sounds like Steve is caught up in wanting to "stay the same." It sounds like he has questions...that's good! Hopefully, someone can plant seeds that will help him. He is into "we" to justify a carnal life. BET executives and their standards for programming are in the same boat. When Christian artists go on BET and help attempt to legitimize carnality, it does nothing to lead these people to Christ.

My prayers truly go out to Steve Harvey-my heart hurts for him. I think the Church should take the larger part of the responsibility for what happpened here. They used his celebrity to get more viewers, which is not really bad if the celebrity is ready to minister in this way. But the problem is, Steve Harvey is broken, and he did not receive the ministry that he needed in my opinion. Basically they pimped him. Lord have mercy on us. I listen to Steve Harvey's morning show from time to time. He does acknowledge God, but he does not really speak the whole truth of God as revealed by His Holy Word. But Steve is not alone. There are many people who acknowledge God, but don't have the whole truth of God. There are many people who grew up in church and have a church background (maybe their parents are even ministers) who have not really received Christ or understand the true meaning of salvation and being a Kingdom citizen. I wonder if Steve was hurt by some church people when he was younger, because often the result of church hurt is a person who rejects part of what they were rightfully taught and replaces it with their own type of religion or spirituality. I don't know the state of Steve's relationship with God (that is between him and God), but I'm praying that the church will be the Church to everyone, and stop showing partiality to the rich and famous.

EXTREMELY WELL PUT.. As Christians we cannot DUMBDOWN HOLINESS RIGHTEOUSNESS and TRUTH.. As the TRUTH is in Jesus!! I don't see Jesus LOWERING his STANDARDS in the word just so PEOPLE can FEEL COMFORTABLE!!! No THERE IS A STANDARD OF RIGHTEOUSNESS!!! and Mr. Harvey will have to GROW UP in GOD Just like the rest of us did.. That being said.. I pray and wish him the SAME GRACE that God gave us a we are GROWING UP IN HIM!!! AMEN!

Jan 10 2009, BET celebration of gospel...Well after watching Fantasia run around the stage bare-footed, I had to turn the channel. Some how some way I ended up turning back only to see the foolishness that was BET's tribute to Steve Harvey. The camera exploited his "sorrow", and he cried his tears and tugged at the heart strings of his fans and the audience, but to hear people telling Steve Harvey his "testimony" on TBN touched their heart was sickening. This man was speaking contrary to God's word and was never corrected. oh well... Those who make him feel right will give an account to GOD!. In the words of my pastor...You can fool the deacon, the usher, and the preacher, but the two you can never fool are yourself and GOD.

These responses and this video is the reason why people are turned off by the Christian church. We as Christians especially of us "church" folk can be so mean, so judgmental and so harmful. We look down at our noses at others and then wonder why people don't want to give their lives to Christ! Hmm let's see if you are supposedly acting like Christ and you are talking about Jane Newmember because her skirt is too tight or talk about Benny The Booser when he comes to church drunk. Hmm now we have the perfect opportunity instead of judging. We can help our brothers and sisters in Christ. If her dress is two small buy her a new one! If he drinks too much counsel him and invite him to AA.

What happened to "Judge not, that ye be not judged". All of us as followers of Christ need to start shining some light and love on the world and stop complaining.

AnDraea,

I apologize I wasn't referring to your comment. Your comment was heartfelt and I agree with what you said. I was commenting on the other comments.

Better yet what is wrong with this video, it is an scriptural rebuke done with love towards Steve so why do you have a problem with it?

Also, we ARE SUPPOSED TO JUDGE WITHIN THE CHURCH( THE BODY) please stop taking scripture out of context. That scripture is about HYPOCRITICAL JUDGMENT not Don't Judge at all.

Charles....as Christians we are called to the judgement of believers (accountability) and not the one that you are referencing from Matthew 6:1. It is VERY IMPORTANT that we scripture as it is intended to be used: IN CONTEXT.

With that said, there were some artists, such as Sis. Yolanda Adams, who I respect and have played her music in my public school classrooms every day when I taught high school--without regret--that someone AT CELEBRATION OF GOSPEL needed to remind her that her breast was showing in that red dress. We have to get beyond the "celebrity" and love each other enough to say "hey, what's going on?". Maybe it was stated and she choose not to listen, but there is a problem when a minister (she has a degree in theology/divinity) is dressed in suggestive and revealing clothes "singing the Gospel". Not working.

She has been through alot--especially in the past year--which is why someone needed to share with her that the Gospel is not 'sexy" or about seeing how close to the edge one can go as a Christian.

I am genuinely concerned about her and what is going on. We also need to be concerned abotu the example that is being set. Saying this in love....

Simplysaved I do believe in holding other believers accountable and I agree with you 100% it's not about what you say sometimes it's about how you say it. As for Yolanda I have never seen her spilling out of her dresses. I may have not liked how an outfit looked lol, but I've always thought she was very classy in the way she dressed.
