Is church MANDATORY for salvation? Can someone make it into the pearly gates without ever stepping foot in a church? Is it a requirement, if so, do you have scripture supporting your idea? If not, can you disprove that church is a pre-requisite for heaven?

I AM The Church! However, we should be taught, and worship, and sharpen and be sharpened, and assemble and pray and give and seek and gain revelation and grow and there is no better place to simultaneously, get all of these done as a believer than a HOUSE that is DEDICATED to these things! Whether it is a 4,000 seater or someone's home that is concecrated at specific times for the this purpose, we all should be seeking a place, inside or out to express our love for God and his WORD. Never fool yourself to think "I don't need to be taught or worship " or any of the things mentioned above!
Important to go...however, NOT A PREREQUISTITE to get into heaven...the thief on the cross didn't visit his local parish after he got up off the cross. Jesus simply handed him ETERNITY because of his BELIEF!

AMEN, Brother Winan. It is as simple as that. And, I will say this... IF YOU TRULY ARE SAVED, SANCTIFIED AND FILLED WITH HIS SPIRIT -- you will have a hunger for the corporate anointing that is present when the LORD's people gather together. You will want to be where HE is in the MIDST of His people who are His cherished and precious treasure and possession in the Earth, amen.

By "TRUSTING", that the act of Jesus' death, was in fact, a substitution for you, secures your position of salvation. I sincerely believe that, out of genuine unconditional love, Jesus literally and eternally paid God's required penalty for the sin of all who believe. Instead of speaking in tongues, performing miracles, paying tithes or going to church, the sole evidence of one's acceptance of this gift of God's love, must become reflective in one's extension of unconditional love of Deity, toward all others (friend and foe), just as you express self-love. Now, the real difficulty we face today as Believers, is our ambiguity of properly defining, "What is a Church?" For me, at 54 years of age, having grown up in 'the church', I must say that I'm finding it awkwardly uncomfortable continuing the status quo in today's complex order of religions! Smaller gatherings, (such as, 2 or 3)..., in the car, on a walk, fishing trip, at the gym, etc., are now my prefered sources of worship and spiritual development. It is a real PERSONAL SPIRITUAL thang, which boils down to consistently living one universal virtue, known as, "THE GOLDEN RULE!"

First, explain "THE GOLDEN RULE" :) I'm guessing it's the law of the spirit.

I'm convinced that gathering together in corporate worship is an absolute requirement to develop "endurance". I think that we cannot accomplish our God given tasks without each other.

We MUST come together and edify each other, we NEED each other.

I don't think the location of that gathering is relevant. But we can't forget the gathering itself.

I do not feel it is necessary to go to church to be saved. There are some people who have never been exposed to a church who will see God's loving face on that glorious day when he parts the sky. I agree that the church is a safe haven, a place to build and strengthen your spiritual foundation. The church is a refuge in the time of storm. Whenever I go to church my weeks go by smoother and I feel like I can handle situations better. Christians need to also realize that we are the church to some people. By that I mean that we are watched and we set the example for a non believer. Or even a person on the edge of salvation or loss. We need to constantly remember that WE are not our own. It is not about us but about his will in us. In all our actions we should be conscious to whether they glorify God. We are here to magnify and serve him.

Then explain this verse. Romans 10:14

No...it's true you dont have to go to church to be saved. But as a person that is saved shouldn't you want to be in "church"?

14How then shall they call on him in whom they have not believed? and how shall they believe in him of whom they have not heard? and how shall they hear without a preacher?

Acts 15:11
But we believe that through the grace of the LORD Jesus Christ we shall be saved

no church is needed only

Luke 18:42
And Jesus said unto him, Receive thy sight: thy faith hath saved thee

Are we saying we don't need the building? or are we saying we don't need to gather together?

if we DO need to gather... then wouldnt that mean we DO need the church?

What do you think?

a Yo Striaght up the Church is a power house! Its A Hospital for those who are sick in sin! Its a place were you can worship with your mind at ease, a place were you can recieve word and applie it to your life, a place were you can fellowhip about the goodness of god! I think a church is necessary to live the christian life. However it is not required in order to make it to heaven. Not only this but everybody in the church ant saved. We are the church, but gathering together in the organization of the church is a valueble support in the struggle of living a reightous life!

I was raised going to church most of my life. I am saved. I am a christian. Do you HAVE to go to church every Sunday to be saved and have salvation. No. It is a good way to fellowship and rejoice, but going to church is not what gives you salvation. If you can't go every Sunday, try and at least go when you can. If you can't go regularly, God is not going to turn his back on you.

John 3:17,18 "For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved. He that believeth on him is not condemned: but he that believeth not is condemned already, because he hath not believed in the name of the only begotten Son of God."

great points!

But let me play devils advocate for a moment...

Hebrews 10:24-25 "[24] And let us consider one another to provoke unto love and to good works: [25] Not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as the manner of some is; but exhorting one another: and so much the more, as ye see the day approaching"

How do we make this scripture fit into our idea of church being "skippable"?

if we DO need to gather... then wouldnt that mean we DO need the church?
the Chuch itself no we do not need a building, the fellowship part of the church we need, but that can be had anywhere by a lake a stream, in a park , on a hill, by the bay, my point is 2000 years ago were was the church ... and yet we are still here i think the church is not as vital as the FAITH
